Get help finding transitional housing

OurJourney understands that one of the most difficult challenges awaiting many of our returning citizens is finding a place to live. Indeed, homelessness or unstable housing is often the most significant risk factor for recidivism.

While OurJourney doesn’t yet offer transitional housing, we are pleased and honored to partner with Crossroads Reentry, a nonprofit organization in the Charlotte area with over 20 years experience helping men and women returning from prison secure approved home plans before and after their release.

This service is available for anyone incarcerated (or formerly incarcerated) in North Carolina who needs to find a place to live in the state. Individuals who are currently incarcerated must be within four months of their release date before we can provide assistance.

Please understand: We cannot guarantee that we will be successful in securing a place to live for you, your client or loved one, only that we are committed to pursuing all possible options. Either way, we will stay in contact with you throughout the process.

If you are a case manager at a North Carolina prison OR a North Carolina parole officer and are trying to secure a home plan for someone, please fill out the Client Referral Form.

If you are the friend or family member of a currently or formerly incarcerated loved one in North Carolina in need of transitional housing, please fill out the Friend/Family Referral Form.

If you are a formerly incarcerated resident of North Carolina in need of transitional housing, please fill out the Self Referral Form.
